An attractive badge, Don -- it appears to be a 2nd Issue SA Sport Badge of the Silver Grade, made for private purchase (un-numberred). From the pix it appears to be quite thick as such badges go; perhaps this was caused by the sharp closeups...?

Hi James

This have nothing to do with privately purchase - all badges up to number 1. 000 000 was un-numbered because of the restructuring within the SA guidance

Thanks, Tino, though perhaps I am misunderstanding your note. Are you saying that ALL SA Sport Badges of both the First and Second Issue did NOT have award numbers stamped to their reverses? Please clarify.

Adolf donated the sports badge on the 28th of November, 1933

The first badges type 1 were lent in March 1934, started with number 1 and ended with number ~ 233. 000 in january 1935 (the last exactly known to me is number 232 998)

SA Sportbadge

Typ 1. März 1934 to Januar 1935
all SA Sport badges with number, included also the SA Marine sport badges
Ownership: EIGENTUM D. CHEFS D. AUSBILDUNGSWESENS

all badges are tombac made and non magnetic

then, in februar 1935 started type 2 with number over ~ 233 000 (the first exactly known to me is number 233 104)

up to number ~ 315 000 all badges are tombac made
(the last exactly known to me is number 314 838)
over number ~ 315 000 (the first exactly known to me is number 316 256)all badges were produced of iron sheet and are magnetic

The badge with the number 1,000,000 was lent to the 12/10/1936(Quelle: Verordnungsblatt der Obersten SA-Führung, 9. Jahrgang, vom 1.4.39, Nr. 5 Seite 3)

At the end of 1936 the highest SA leadership, split the "Gaue" anew.
(only for example: parts of Sachsen come to Thüringen and parts of Bayern come to Sachsen and so on)
The problem was the SA members which lived in this parts, all her registrations would have had to be numbered anew.
This was a too big expenditure and thus the badges were not numbered from january 1937 at all
I own an official writing of the SA leadership to this process.
( I think, it ended with the number 1000000 or some about that)

Typ 2. 15. Februar 1935 bis Dezember 1938
SA Sportabzeichen earlier numbered, at the start of 1937 without,

Now i know what you mean - I wrote "all badges up to number 1. 000 000" sorry, my mistake "all badges from number 1.000 000" is right
