Geez!
To give you an idea how big your badge is- usual and average measurements of the wreath are about 44.6 x 44.9.
My 25 below inside your badge's 'footprint'.
First pic compares against your swastika size, second against the wreath.
cheers

Bit of an oversight and a great catch by Stan.
Michael- if you're going to re-measure: can you give us the digits on the wreath without the swastika horizontally and vertically (it will read differently in different spots being a bit irregular). The measurements of the swasi itself would be great.
Thanks for your time!
cheers

And from the 1934 RPT blue book, the famous photo of Gauleiter Loeper with his multi-Gau Ehrenzeichen along with his GPB. In Littlejohn's famous work, he wrote that Gau badges could not be worn together with a GPB.
In that blue book is there any photographs that feature Loeper in the crowd, as we now know he was wearing his blood order that day. Thanks for a fellow collector for this image, challenge is the blood order is not really that visable so searching for different angles!

I agree with Joe's comment on this last photo: that does look like Sepp Dietrich on the far left, in his role as working crowd control. And I can't imagine that The Little Doctor would have responded well to Sepp's hand as he kept the Gauleiter of Berlin back from walking beside his Führer!
Cheers, and thanks, Jon, for sharing these glimpses of history!

Michael,
There appears to be something wrong with your rule. The digital reading is 51,89mm but the rule says 47mm. The same error occurs in post #61 where the display reads 48,81 but the rule shows less than 45mm!

Looking at your measurements of 43.16 x 43.96 (W/H), it would appear that it is indeed the case as suspected.
I wanted to thank you for your efforts and sharing your information as posted above.

This is an interesting and informative thread as I have been wishing to acquire one of these badges for my collection. There has been an enamel version posted on the e-stand and I wanted to try to learn from it. Virtually every one I have seen did not have the darkened looking reverse the wreath shows on the one offered on the e-stand and I wonder if this darkening was on originals of the enameled kind?

Would be hard to upgrade this one.
The badge as offered on estand is a wonderfully conditioned (appears unissued) and original example. It is also the less common tombak variant of this badge.
The darkened verso should be present on all original specimens and is also one of the features not commonly seen on fakes of this badge. Neither is the 'smoked' effect as seen on the front of the wreath. Both features should be seen on painted as well as enameled versions of this badge although both can be partially dissipated by wear & tear.
Textbook piece in the more desirable enamel configuration.
cheers
