general gau award

hi everyone i think the general gau award does not seem to be shown that often on waf.i think it is one of the best political awards.it would be good if we could see more of them.

If you are referring to this type of badge, I only have this one, the 1925 General Gau Leaders badge with enamel, I really like these awards
And would like to see some more particularly the 1923 & 1925 without enamel,

thank s for that link joe.for a award that was issued to several gau they seem to be very scarce.do we have any idea how many were issued??

do we know why there were painted and enamel versions?as they all were on 800 silver.

I have no idea of the rationale behind paint or enamel, but are we talking about a hard fired enamel or enamel paint?

I would like to see the authorization from the party that permitted those special Gaues to issue the badges as their own Ehrenzeichen. And so far, there have been no other Ausweis or Urkunden displayed.

Thanks for the great link JoeW and nice photo Larrister, Transvision, I am sure I have seen this badge in both 800 silver and alpacca manufacture as is shown in Joes link, anyway- i show a cased 1925 silver enamel version and a photo of gauleiter Otto Hellmuth wearing his (along with a coburg badge),

Right you are, Erich, and the 1934 edition of "Reichstagung in Nürnberg" (p.379) includes a fine copy of the same photo provided by Michael. In that larger photo, Gauleiter Dr. Hellmuth is wearing the 1923-dated example of the General Gau Award. (And, as we know, he is also wearing his collar tabs mounted backwards on his lapels -- this may be because he had his uniform tunic privately made and the cut of the lapels was not done to accommodate the rhomboid angles of NSDAP PL tabs.) But I think that Michael's effort in showing us this photo together with a (beautiful) cased 1925 General Gau Badge was simply to produce a picture of the cased award and also a photo of an example of the award in wear. I don't think any further connection between the two was intended...?
