          This particular award is not for rowing; it is for discus-throwing. The award is missing the red-painted portions of the HJ emblem.

            There is some controversy over the originality of these awards if you follow the link you can learn more. On the second page of the link it is said that Souval produced these postwar.

              Regardless,... awards like this type when an original , are die struck?(not saying this one is at all, just as a general rule) .....Seems cast to me, and even with an inscription ,I would always expect to see a MM. I had a large hocland lager youth skiing award for 35 and 36 once and i believe pollath made it and details were esquisite.

                Still even though it may not be period piece is still a nice item from a design perspective.

                  butchek had a large hj grouping for sale a couple of yrs ago and the grouping consisted of a few of these awards so they where being made before 1945, you can see a pic of one of the awards from the groping on the thread that is linked in post #6
