High Tinnie Prices - Sold on Ebay!!!

I have always been under the impression that Nazi realted items were not allowed to be sold on Ebay. However, after scanning completed sales for any tinnies I might find, low and behold, there were quite a few that had been sold, mostly SA tinnies, and not only that, several sold for well over $100.00, one even selling for $200.00. Amazing!!!

How the 'mighty' have fallen!! Thanks for your research, Chris. Did you have the opportunity to see pix of the items sold? I'm just thinking that they may have had the SA logo instead of the swastika, and as I understand it, it's the swas that was usually banned by eBay. An SA logo might fall beneath the radar!

      Br. James,
Don`t know what their exact policy is. All I know is that if I had listed the same tinnies, the Ebay police would be on it like stink on s--t
Yes I saw the tinnies that sold and most were SA. One was also the profile of Hitler which I know is against Ebay policy. You can see which ones were sold by going to the military collectable section on ebay. Type in tinnies in the search section. Click on the completed listing box and they`ll pop up

        Dear Chris

This is a double edged sword.

From past and to include from bitter experience, I think that the eBay suitability vetting policy is a decidedly hit and miss affair. Perhaps and as Br. James suggested, the badges that you refer to escaped deletion due to their lack of an overt swastika. I just do not know, although I am sure that we are not yet at a stage where "all things Nazi" are banned. It is the presentation and again, the display of the swastika which seems to trigger the reaction, whether rightly or wrongly.

You were surprised by the prices, although I am not. Although my primary collecting field is belt buckles with a specialisation towards SA, I have a secondary interest in SA meeting and event badges. These are madly popular and eagerly sought after in both the US and Germany, as I have found to my cost on some auction sites. There are many SA meeting and event badges missing from my collection and where I would gladly pay in excess of US$ 200 for. In addition, there would be a line up of similarly minded collectors forming a queue behind me if I was to say no thankyou. I kid you not Chris.

        Regards,

        David

          tinnies

The top tinnie is the tinnie that went for $200.00 Following are some SA tinnies that, if I put them up on Ebay, I might get at least that or more???

                  tinnies

I just went and relooked at the tinnies that sold on Ebay. Several of them did have VERY prominent swastikas on them!!

SA symbol is not banned, SS and of course Swaz is.
TK skulls are fine, which is why ebay is littered with them, and rings. You can't say "SS" though, so they are called "German Elite Troops" ect.
As stated, most badges/tinnies with the likeness of AH are considered propaganda, and not allowed.
The only reason you can't sell SA daggers is because of the little Swaz under the eagle. Some people try to get around that by crudely prying the eagle insert out of the grip, this sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Their rules state that any item bearing, or once bore, a Swaz cannot be sold, even if removed - So in that regards, de-nazified items are banned as well.
Some do make it through with Swaz, I suspect most were quick auctions, with a buy it now, and were purchased before ebay could stop the auctions.

Between the PC police and collectors who want to end the auction so they can make an off ebay offer, very few [with Swaz] make it through. Once a seller is caught, any future listings in German WW2 category will be pre screened by ebay, it might take a full day for the auction to show up, until ebay screens and approves it. I know, I am in this category.
Some folks do some creative photo editing, and take the Swaz out of the pic. This usually works, depending on the editing skills ,,, But for well known items like SA daggers and EK's, they will pull the auction no matter how good of a job you do.

                      Hello,
I am on E-Bays bad list also. No matter how good I cover the Swaz it is kicked off if it does even make online . I don't even bother trying any more as it is not worth the effert. It gets frustrating some times when you see some of the pins and tinnies that get on E-Bay with the Swaz up front and even more so when you see the prices that they get for them. They must be getting more tolerent in Germany as I notice allot of Swaz on German E-Bay lately

If you are on their special 'Watch' list ... like I am for example and it sounds like you are, too ... then any items like that will be found and deleted within a couple of hours of listing them on ebay. If you are not as yet on their 'Watch' list and if nobody denounces you to the ebay Gestapo, then you might just get through with offering items like this for sale ... just potluck with ebay and best not to tempt them by offering items like that there, if you still wish to continue to trade on ebay for other items.

Many years ago and before ebay introduced this ban, Third Reich items were selling there very well and the only reason that I have my website is because ebay introduced this ban and I had to find another outlet for offering Third Reich items ... tried epier for a while, who were (are) a disaster to deal with and had it not been for this ban, then I would not have my website and I would still be offering everything I have got for sale on ebay .... ah well, but there you go ... water under the bridge and life goes on Cheers, Torsten.
