    Hj sharpshooter with oakleafs,m1/14

I picked up this little gem, silver hj sharpshooter with oakleafs,i know that the m1/14 is well faked, but this one looks to be a 100% original m1/14,it looks better in the hand, then in the photos & the detail to the oakleafs is very crisp, any opinions welcome.

I have my doubts. Have a similar example removed from my collection.

please note that i use a magnifying glass in front of my camera to get thease photos so they will never be 100%,the close up photo is a zoom in on my laptop,i will take anouther photo tomorrow in natural light if required.

please note that in all photos i have used a magnifying glass in front of my camera to capture the detail, this is the best i can do.

I'm not a badge expert but it looks good to me.

                  Best regards.

                    m1/14 update

i have returned the hj sharpshooter badge,as i beleive the badge to be a fake, after doing some research on the hj forum, and the doing my own detailed examination of the badge, eg,the brass colour showing through the reverse of the badge, was infact on top of the silver colour metal,as so to give a apperance that the silver finish had worn away,to reveal the base metal, the silver rifles were made from a unknown metal, alough the hj diamond looks good it was not uniform in colour to original hj membership badges and a sharpshooter badge.any opinions on this are welcome, but the brass colour finish over the silver was enough to put me off.

                      wise decision.

I do believe it is one of those early quality fakes. Their enamelwork is as good as the originals. It is also my feeling that the HJ shooterbadge with wreath is one of the most perfect faked enamel badges. Personally I had give it up after buying two fakes of them over the past years

                            Regards, Wim

having had this one in hand,i think i know what to look for in an original with oakleafs, given the number of silver sharpshooter with oakleafs issued, there do seem quite a lot for sale,if judgeing by this one there are lot are fakes about and not just by this maker,so iam going to keep looking for what i think is a original, and when i do find one i will post pics.
