Thanks all. I appreciate the input. I always value other's opinion of those items that were purchased outside of Wehrmacht-Awards community.

          Regards
          Pat

The defeat at Stalingrad being so total, I seriously doubt that any "Stalingrad Pin" ever existed.

The Stalingrad cross was a device for on the shoulder straps, do a search in the Wehrmacht insignia forum; f.e. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...alingrad+cross

It was never a stick pin.

I find the NSBO and NSV stick pins of low/bad quality...is it the photo or the pins themselves? (and might they be fake)
Although I do like the twisted pins.

Interesting. So it isn't that this is a bad specimen, it is that no specimen existed at all.

                  Thanks

indeed, not as a stickpin but as a shoulderboard device.

BTW - thanks for the link to the thread. After reading through it, now I really want one ! But of course, it could be that my stick pin is an extremely rare, one of a kind proto-type, that I would be willing to part with for a mere $15.00 .....

Actually it is an inexpensive object lesson to keep in my collection and serve as a reminder to be wary of the fakers.

                      Regards,
                      Pat

Pat Here is my example to show and I beleive it is accepted as original. Your NSV looks cast to me. Both the NSV and NS Hago are not uncommon and can be found and purchased in multitudes for not a lot of $. Good luck and have patience with collecting. Robert

I have a womans stick pin center bottom

I Think yours may not be original , or possibly over cleaned with some kind of acid or chemical...notice the pitting to the top, and back...as it is missing the dark backround (front and back), also mine is concave on front AND back,(also appears die struck, and yours looks like it may be cast) and not flat. Different maker , as yours is a 75. so....does Anyone have a 75 to compare?? Other than that i also agree with the general consensus. The helix on the pin helps keep it from coming out of the material its stuck into.

I think you may be on to something about the over cleaning with acid. I compared it to this one with a missing stick that I have and it is closer in appearance to your example. Both of mine are concave (the picture just makes it look flat I think because it is so white), the same size, and weight about the same when I hold them.

                            Thanks
