    1936 Olympic Item Thread

    Hello Board, I am unsure where to post 1936 Olympic items... I thought this was a safe bet but slap my hand if I am wrong..

    I can not find anything about this item on the net. It isn't the smaller/pin broach I sometimes see. If you look it has 2 eyeleds to be mounted or screwed onto something... anyone ever see anything like this? Is it real or fantasy item? Any feedback would be great!

            Not too common, but also not impossible to find. Every now and then one shows up. they also exist with the rings in the same creamcolour enamel as the rest of the badge.

            I believe these could be affixed to the grill of a car.

              Thank you Gaston!!! I also have some judges badges. Have you ever seen them? I can post pics later. I have seen these areoubd a lot. Are they commonly reprod or are Olympic items generally a little more safer in that regard

                Hello,
                Scott, I have the same type of item that you show except as Gaston mentions, the one I have has the cream colored olympic rings. Mine is also by the maker you show, which I believe is supposedly Paulman & Crone if I remember correctly. I believe someone else on the forum has mentioned seeing these with another maker mark also. Whether any of them are original I have no idea. I will see if I post a picture of my item tomorrow.

                  Thank you guys... I wish there was a way for me to attach these to the grill of my truck.. just kidding.. Here are my judges badges.. The seem to match "known" good ones but some have a hooking mechanism as you can see.... again made by Paulman & Crone... Thank you, Scott

                    I believe these olympic judges badges have been discussed in the past and are considered fake items. I'm sure a search would bring up various threads.
                    I have a few of these items also having bought them in the 80's I think.

                      I did some research.. I agree with you that there is a consensus that these are "fantasy" albeit well made "fantasy" items.

                      The reason I felt they might have been real was the below site... I have always considered this to be a great legimate reference site.... I am not sure if you have seen this one before..

                      If you do a google search you will be amazed at how many people are selling these items for astronomical prices. You can also find websites that sell them advertising as replica's for $40 dollars or so...

                      Interesting... Until someone produces a picture with a 1936 judge wearing one of these I will assume they are fantasy..

                      Two questions to ask ourselves-
                      1) "have you ever seen one in beat up shape?" I would submit that after going through a world war and 80 years of elements you would see a lot of pretty beat up examples.
                      2) "how many judges were in the 1936 olympics?" It seems there are a lot of them out there. I am no expert but I don't think there would be 1,000's of judges who all got rid of their perfectly in shape badges...
