    Hello,
I was at a yard sale awhile back and I bought a knick knack rack for a 1.00, took it home and repainted it white and I use it for some of the Monument Pins I have. It is safe and out of the way.

Nice display! I ended up putting my extra ones in a riker mount, but I like your rack display better.

      Best,

        Hi Greg,
The price was right on it and keeps them away from little hands.

            Lorrie,

I like your red Prinz Eugendenkmal Wien one; I'm partial to red ones but don't have many myself!

            Best,

              Hi,

              Love these!

I was shown (according to the dealer haha) a complete set of these items, way back in 2002.
No different colours of glass were in the collection, and he told me that there were 22 different monuments in the "complete set"!
Could have bought the "glassies" for about 30 Euro at the time, but decided to let them go.
They were a beautiful group of items, and I have regretted noy buying them ever since.
              Such is life!

              Best regards,

              John

                Hello,
I find there is more interest in the WHW Pins selling online lately. They still go for a good price and have been climbing up lately in prices. Since there has been no repos in the WHW Pins so far the buyers will pay a little more for them but I'm sure there will be some fakes coming out as the prices get higher on them. At todays prices on the other Third Reich items get higher and the fakes get better allot of new Buyer's are scared of getting burnt on them and passing on them. There are allot of TR Collectors out there who have not heard of Wehrmacht.com and are spending big amounts of money on repos and when they find what they are they get a little gun shy on buying other TR items. They will find out that Wehrmacht .com is the best 25.00 they will ever spend.

                  Hello Lorrie,

There have been fake WHW's out there for years. There are some WHW pieces that can sell for several hundreds of dollars...sometimes thousands...they have been faking this stuff for a while. But I agree that it is not but a fraction of what we see in the rest of the TR collectible market.

                  Regards,
                  Chrys

                    Hi Chrys,
I guess in this age it is naive to think that any thing can not be repoed. As you say some of the high end Pins such as the Hund Pin will make its way on to the Market Place if it has not allready. It is going to be the old saying Buyer Beware is going to come more often than now. I

                          Hi Guy,
The first Pin would not be hard to pick out with the quality and being cast the second Pin would be a little harder and more convincing if you did not know what to look for.

                              Mike,

There isn't any sort of list per say...the more WHW you collect the more you will find. As I said earlier it isn't a wide spread thing...in fact you'd be hard pressed to find fakes unless you were looking in the right (or wrong) places. You have to remember that these things existed after the war ended and the WHW program ceased to exist. Some dealers will take these pieces and paint them to look just like the war time examples. Unless you really know what you are looking at you may never know the difference. Legitimate piece also exist from campaigns that took place after the war ended as well...just because it is a small trinket doesn't mean that it is necessarily Winterhilfswerk related.

Thanks Guy for posting these examples...it's appreciated.

                              Regards,
                              Chrys

That is the idea Lorrie...WHW is not something that some look at very seriously. Most think that for $30-$50 the second tinnie must be OK...but you can see that it isn't. There may not be 'big' money in faking small items like these...but they slip under suspicion much, much easier.

                                Regards,
                                Chrys
