I hope I'm not breaking a stale thread rule, but in researching this little tinnie, I found Laurence Strong's post about the same pin and offer a picture of the one my dad brought back from WWII. Haven't found information on the maker yet, if anyone can offer a shortcut to that information I will be obliged.

The only thing I can think of is that the fellow creating the incluse of the letter "S" into that die had a few too many Schnapps the night before
