    Advice needed on gilt Eagle

I picked this item up recently in a clearance cosisting of a War Merit Cross without swords and a gilt metal eagle. I am not sure if the metal eagle is one that is worn on an army uniform and I have no idea of value. I would be grateful for some advice on this. Both items are mounted in a glass case. I attach some pics.
    Thanks,
    Peter.

    Hi Peter,
The eagle is N.S.D.A.P. visor eagle and a nice on at that.
Is it marked on the reverse at all? Looks like it may be hard to check though with it being mounted the way it is.
Post this in the political forum, some of the experts may recognize the maker by t
he design. Value can be all over the place, some have sold for $40.00 and some for up to $75.00. I would pay on the lower end of that scale +or - $10.00
    Dave

P.S. With the nice condition it's in you may want to display in something that does not require it to be tied to the backing. the string used may stain the eagle
    if it is acidic.

      Thanks blutundehre,
I have asked for it to be moved to the political forum.

        Peter,

It is a high level political eagle for visor caps. Not a rare piece and I would expect to pay between US$45-75, exactly what Dave wrote. If the prongs are present, they would fetch a bit more. A nice find.

          Thanks Dave and Mil,
This would seem to tie in with the War Merit Cross without Swords 2nd Class that is also in the case.
          Thanks,
          Peter.
