Deutscher Luthertag tinne

Hi all,

Can anybody supply some info on this tinne? It says "Deutscher Luthertag - 10 November 1933" around the outside. Has a small christian cross superimposed over what looks to be some sort of flower bud in the center. Metal, with pin back. It's one of those rare badges that doesn't sport the HK on it.

Any comments on rarity or basic value would be a help, as would any other information. I'm assuming it has something to do with Martin Luther.

Eric, I don't know the real purpose of the badge but have always supposed it had some connection with the Lutheran Church and Martin Luther. It is actually a fairly common badge and can be seen for sale in the $10 to $15 range quite often.

This badge has several variations,the one you have can be found in both gold and silver colours and there is also a version made from card.There is a very similar badge that has different wording around the edge,"Mit Luther und Hitler fur Glauben und Volkstum",that can be found in large,small and enamelled versions.

This badge and several others were produced to celebrate the 450th anniversary of the birth of Martin Luther on the 10th November 1933.

($9.5)
