    SA and Miners

I got 2 interesting photos at a show with the Ricks on Sunday.
First the Miners, about which I know nothing:

and a photo of an SA man in full kit. By the lack of an HKx I'd date this between 1930-1934, so this guy was probably one of the 3,000,000 SA recruits that Roehm raised in 1933/34.
Of special note is the home-made ribbon bar: EK2/Bav.MMc3/Hungarian 14-18.
Can anybody tell me what unit his collar denotes?

The photo of the SA man would date from 1933 to 1939 or so. I would agree that it's probably 1933-35 judging from the details of his belt and crossbelt. The shoulderboards were introduced around 1933.
I can't make out the collar insignia on my monitor--can you tell what it features?
      thanks,
      Erich
      PS--what's an HKx? Hindenburg cross?

Yup: HKx=Hindenburg Cross with swords. I'll post a blow up of the collar tomorrow.
        Thanks.

          Hi Jeff,

I thought that you may be interested in this illustration from B.L.Davis' book,
'GermanUniforms of The Third Reich, 1933-1945'.
This shows three different types of miners uniform.
Please let me know if you would like me to copy the descriptions of the uniforms here.

          Kind regards,
          Andy

See your Assmann catalog reprint for a nice close-up of the various crossed-hammer miner's insignia.
