The badge doesn't sound good to me due to the fact that numbered badges were not also dated. The dated badges were awarded by Hitler and also had an AH on the reverse and no Party number. Post a photo.

well, the guy did send me better pics and i am a bit surprised. at first it looks good but after looking at the leaves they look more rounded than the examples i have compared it to. here is the part that was driving me nuts for a bit. the enameled part is i beleive an original party badge. then encased in a fake gold guilt case made to look like a gpb. also the back looks buldged out and it say deschler in big letters above the pin. i may go look at it just to see how good it is and if the guy is willing to accept it is a fake i may buy it anyway just to examine if i can get it cheap enough. i am not very knowledgable with gpb's so it will give me something to learn.
      thanks

Nothing more to add but a word of caution.

I would recommend to everyone being interested in GPB's to study the subject before a making big ticket purchase. These badges do not come cheap and some of the better fakes can even fool an expert on first glance.

          Dear Mark,

I certainly agree with Erich and Andreas and would go so far as to try and discourage you from buying this badge even if it is "cheap enough." Your description of the badge makes it sound like one of the more egregious fakes on the market, and any time one of them is sold...for any price...that may encourage the forger to make more. After all, why would anyone want to spend any amount on a badge they already knew was fake?! (Personally, I have never bought into the concept that one should add a repro badge to one's collection 'just until he can find a genuine example to replace it!' To me that is throwing good money away, period! And in this day of economic distress...)

          Thanks for sharing, friend.

It's a fake - "AH" badges never had numbers, and numbered badges never had "AH".

Walk away without a backwards glance.

** For some reason my signature has disappeared - anyone know what happened to them?
It had my Gold Party Badge website: http://pages.interlog.com/~sjl/GPB/ Lots of pictures of good and bad there.

              Cheers,

              Stephen

sorry for not getting back sooner,i appreciate all the help. lets put it this way,the guy had it for sale for 350.00 so i was leary anyway. but with that being said ridiculous deals do pop up sometimes. a guy i know localy bought an m33 ss dagger 2 years ago at a yard sale for 25.00 right up the road from where i live. it was salty but still all original. so i always atleast check an item out if i can. i havent paid my membership so thats why i cant post pics yet. but what i did notice in the pics he sent me where the leaves were a slightly different shape,9 per side, deschler in large letters across the back above the pin which was horizantal. below the pin was the number. the actual party pin looks like an original with all of the normal charactaristics with a fake wreath. so anyway i just wanted to say thanks again for the help.
                best wishes
