    Forestry badge????

Where does this one fit in??

    It’s a large badge (4cm, 5m/m wide and 50cm, 5 m/m high)

The back is painted light olive (I would say “Weimar or Freikorps colour)

The front has a hand stamped (serial?) Number 35106

It came on a Forestry officer tunic (on the breast pocket like a medal)

According to Heering & Hüsken P187 + 185 it's a Dienstabzeichen für Berufsjäger und Jagdaufseher.

I've often seen this colour on the back of period badges.

      Cheers

I think the prices in the 1997 book were in DM and not euro. The euro was not out then. Mike

Good point, I'd forgotten that...... Sorry Marc that would work out at about 117 Euro I think

                  Cheers

                    Just a remark about prices:
never forget that Hüsken's estimations have never been particularly low... To make your own opinion, just compare Detlev's with Hüsken's awards guide. You'll find pretty nice discrepancies.
This being said, it stays a nice badge!
                    Regards,
                    Gilles

Wow. I picked up one of these in mint condition from a vets sister. I thought it was a $20 pin. Mine also has that funny paint on the back. Completely normal as a few of mine have it.
