    Commenorative coin on estand

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=492364

Never seen one of these before but I would expect the quality to be better. Opinions please. I'd also like to see the edges.

This medal is published in "Medallic Portraits of Adolf Hitler" No. C-110 C-111.

But the offered one looks like a reproduktion cast.

      This medal is a casting!
The field is uneven and pitted.
      The details are very mushy.
      A fake.

I tried to get some good photos using a flash this time. I guess I should have posted this for discussion before posting it for sale. I got this coin along with a very nice Fascist dagger some time ago from the family of a WWII Vet who fought in Italy. The dagger was sold on the site about four years back or so. I never thought it might be bad. If this is a bad coin would one of the Mods please remove it with my apologies. Jay

It is a commemorative coin...IMO it is a good coin. It exhibits what I would expect from a coin that has been around since the war.

This doesn´t look like german quality medals.

Does anyone have one of these that could be posted for comparison? I don't mind it being put up for review, but it would be great to know for sure if it's good or bad. My sale was put on hold due to this post. I didn't mind, because truth and knowledge is what we are all seaking. I would just like to know one way or another so this can be put to rest. Thanks, Jay

Sorry........no shots of the edges, this is an old shot I had already on my computer......I have the thing packed away, and I am getting ready to go to the USS Iwo Jima ceremony with Woody Williams family and friends group to honor Woody as the last surviving CMOH recipient from Iwo Jima.......I will try to find it and photograph the edges when I get back, if you want.

Hi Ron, what a great honor to go to an event such as that. As for the medal, I don't think any more photos are needed. Your medal is clearly of a much higher quality and much more detailed than mine. Thanks for posting the photos. Regards, Jay

You are welcome Jay..........and yes, I felt very honored that Woody and his family invited me, my son, and my friend, Bob, who went to help with the driving (since I have not driven that far since my death in 2002 and my stroke in 2009)....but when Woody asked me to come.........I couldn't say no....didn't want to either. I am a bit tired from the trip, and it will take a little time to recover and do some other things; however, I plan to start working up to post some of the 500 plus photos we took.

Right now I only have done a couple or so........the first is me and my son with Woody taken at the hotel we stayed at the night before right before we all left for the ceremony (Woody hadn't put on his CMOH yet), and the other is my son wearing a funny looking cap some Marine put on him. Sorry, it is a bit blurred but my hands shook a little and it was low light without a flash.

I will post the photos here as I work them up. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=455616.

                        For now these two.
