      Thanks all for answering.
      Br. James,
It doesn't have any or little paint and better pics are not easy to get as I do not have it here.

I'm pretty sure that I had looked at the same badge, if it belongs to who I think it does. I know he wants more then $200 for it.
Does the same person still have a PAB 25 or 50?

Thanks for your response, Terry. The originality of this piece is not in question, at least by me, but my advice is to wait for the opportunity to purchase a more classic example of the award in much better condition. Over time, if you had this piece in your collection and then added the 1925 version, you would probably regret that you hadn't waited to pick up a 1923 piece in similarly-good condition. And the regret is not that you bought a bad piece; it is that you would have spent your hard-earned money on a piece that you always knew you would have to upgrade. And then, what do you do with this piece when you've replaced it? It may have been fairly cheap to purchase, but who else would want it in their collections?

            Hi Tim,
I believe you do know him. Why didn't I see you at the gun show?

            Br. James,
I understand what you are saying. I will most likely never see another one in the price range I can aford but then I really don't have to own one, but it would be nice. I personally would rather have a Blood Order.
            Thanks,
            Terry

              1923 Gau Badge

This badge now has a new home. It is in fantastic but used condition and sits beside my other 1923 (enamel) and 1925 (enamel) Gau badges.

It is identical to one's I have seen before which have no traces of paint or enamel and IMO they were meant to be this way. Don Scowen has just emailed me to express a similar opinion. He thinks that for there to be several around with patinated swastikas devoid of any traces of paint could mean that a particular Gau ordered this version. Who knows...

                  Hi Stan,
                  It is a nice badge!
I wish I had the money at the time to buy it. I'm glad I was able to get you two together and you got it.

                  Yours,
                  Terry

Due to the even age patina, I would say it was just cleaned and any remaining paint removed by a zealous unknowleged collector.
