    SA Sort badge - gold

    Hello:

I've been looking through some threads on the SA sport badges and I must say I am confused (not the first time). First, seems that some bronze badges surely do look gold to me. Am I just stupid or have they been doctored or did some makers just have a more golden colour to their bronze badges? Second, what about the "Eigentum D.S.A. Sportabz. Hauptstelle" inscription? I thought that was the way it was written but mine has "Sportabzeichen" spelled out and so does the bronze one in this link that was found to be original.

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=479407

So here is my "gold" badge without numbering. Sure does look gold to me but in other links I see that only Lauer made them. So does that mean this is actually a bronze one?

    Thanks
    Curt

PS I apparently can't edit the title of the thread but it's a "Sport" badge, not a "Sort" badge but that remains to be seen I guess.

I'll bump this to the top. I can't believe no one has an opinion. Is it a fake? Is it a gold painted bronze badge (done really well if it is)? Or is it a real gold one? Don't be shy.

      Thanks

Many thanks for sharing pix of your SA Sport Badge, Curt. I've collected these badges for decades and have never seen one marked as yours is. I would certainly say that it is a Gold Class, but where do badges with this wording fit into the various series of these badges? I'm stumped...! Anyone with further info is encouraged to speak up!

Thanks for replying. I was starting to think no one would bother. Would like to see some more replies to clear up what I have read elsewhere.

Thanks, Curt, and I hope to see other more knowledgeable responses, as well. As I said, I have collected SA Sport Badges for decades, but only a few years ago I came across an RZM-marked SA Sport Badge. I had never seen the like of it before and have almost never seen another one since -- and I'm not referring to the SA War Wounded badge -- but I snapped it up right away! I still have no further information about RZM-marked SA Sport Badges but here too I am waiting for someone to add a relevant comment.

Curt, I know even less than you would about these badges, but I would like to say your badge sure is a beauty
I have asked a few times about a book for these, but there does'nt appear to be one.

Looks fine to me. This one is without a doubt a Gold one. Not one of those polished Bronze passed off as Gold. Very nice and not a common maker

I would say it,s a gold one, i think some one should clear up this
theory that only Lauer made these in gold. Gravedigga has a big
collection of these i would like to see what he has to say
                    Regards

I believe it's only the numbered SA Sportsbadges that are supposedly produced only by Lauer and not necessarily the later Wehrabzeichen types.

The HJ Leader sportsbadge, I've only ever observed it marked RZM M1/101, this mark RZM M1/101 ( Brehmer ) is also the only one found on the mini versions of that badge, Likewise I've only seen Brehmer marked silver Gausieger and gold Reichssieger badges from the trade competitions, but the 1939 bronze Kreissiegers come with various makers marks.. so it is not inconcievable that only Lauer made the numbered Gold SA Sportsbadges.

But I do believe that when members badges are being called false in the E-stand and members are maybe losing a sale or money then some evidence should be presented to back up the Lauer theory, though I suspect it might just be an observation i.e. an opinion that only Lauer made these badges based on that observation.

OK, I'll see what I can do. Need to wait for some sunlight and my camera is a cheap old thing so it's not the best on close ups.

Could you address the question about if Lauer only made the gold numbered badges?

                          Thanks

Finally got around to taking some more pictures. Can't get any closer because the pictures just turn out blurry then.
