First thing is read your cameras operating manual, find the section pertaining to close-up or macro pictures. I had all sorts of problems with close in shots when I first started using my first digital camera, if your camera has auto-focus when you half-press the shutter button there should be an auto-focus lamp that light's up if it's flashing your out of focus release button and refocus and try again until the auto lite stays lit then take the picture. Keep trying you'll get the

It also helps to have a nice photo manipulation program like Adobe's Photoshop.
