I have just acquired this cased 1937 RPT badge in 950 silver for honored guests/leaders. While it is in the same design as the common event tinnie, this is no tinnie, weighing in at almost 22 grams.
Craig Gottlieb has a similar leader's "Presentation Tag Der Arbeit Award Badge with Case" on his website, and the item description explains the purpose of these badges:
"For many of the larger Reich level rallies and major events, special badges were produced in small numbers as awards and presentation pieces. Most collectors don't know this, as the badges are quite rare and many people have never had the opportunity to see one."
