Hello gentlemen,
I collect 'Seefahrt Ist Not' tinnies by maker, and by the pin fasteners of each maker. At first glance these two Paulmann & Crone Seefahrt's looked alike, as did their fasteners. But by the help of digital enlargement one can readily see the differences not only in the maker's lettering, but also in the pin crimps (fasteners) themselves. Vernier calipers were used to measure the height of each tinnie's fasteners, the result being 1 mm difference. It's obvious that a different reverse die was used for each tinnie. So, we see that variants were made on the same 'theme'. This is just one of many that has been found in my Seefahrt collection. I hope my interest in these can be appreciated by the tinnie collectors of this forum.
Regards,
Robert
