Mike, Not to take anything away from your pin which is very good but either Hüsken changed his mind between yours and my copy of his book or someone got their reference lines crossed see what you think.

interesting...my edition states young members pin....and the one you post as the civil (office holder?) pin; my number is 4112e and is stated to be "abzeichen fur stahlhelm-Jungmanner"
the other 4112c is stated as being "Zivilabzeichen Ringstahlhelm"
          my edition is dated..1997...you?

Mike, I have the older edition (1982) I don't know which is correct, mine has the 4112c listed as both Zivilabzeichen/Ringstahlhelm (ad 1929)
            Zivilabzeichen/Jungstahlhelm (ad 1929)
the 4112e is listed as Amtsträgerabzeichen

Don't know what the "Office Holder" refers to, but it seems more likely that the Jungsta attribution is correct. The Jungstahlhelm was for younger men -- not Hitler Youth age but more like college age.

Here's a quick hint on all the Stahlhelm emblems. Originally, the organization limited membership to veterans of the W.W.I front. Both explosive growth and competition with other organizations led to the later acceptance of younger non-veterans and women. Insignia for true "front soldiers" displayed the iron cross on the helmet. The non-front membership had very similar emblems, but without the IC.
