    DVV sports badge by Souval

Does anyone know the timeframe for this sports badge? I think it is 1950s West German? Cheers, Torsten.

Hi Torsten - looks like it may be a little later - according to the website the DVV was founded in the 60s in West Germany. Although your badge does not look exactly like the ones pictured on the documents it may be an earlier version (ie original from the 60s).

Hi Curt, it certainly has a 1950s feel about it, but it may equally be early 1960s I guess ... Cheers, Torsten.

          Hi Torsten,

not the 1950s and not the 1960s.

See the start date for DVV in 1970:

          http://www.dvv-wandern.de/_uns/geschichte.php

IVV (international = Austria, Germany, Swiss/Liechtenstein) started in1968, DVV in 1970, ÖVV in 1971.

The "Volkssport" season in (West) Germany started in 1966/1967.
My first Volkssport medals are from 1967, "Internationaler Volkslauf".

In the picture you can see one bronze badge from ÖVV and one silver badge from DVV, both were made by Souval. The badge on the left must be from 1980:

There are different makers of the different badges of IVV, DVV, ÖVV, e.g. Souval, Reu and Laib. And Orth (!) on an Austrian EVG badge; EVG is a competitor to IVV, the EVG in Germany started in 1985:

          See EVG, IVV, ÖVV:

            Hi Uwe,

thank you very much for the additional info and for the positive date on the badge. Very nice badge to have been made in the 1970s ... looks like there is even a bit of a set to collect on these. Cheers, Torsten.
