Where have all the tinnies gone?

Where have all the tinnies gone? I’ve been looking at all the area military shows and flea markets and military forums. Last year they where everywhere, even at antique malls.

Most of the dealer sites are priced triple or more. Common one’s are bringing big bucks! And scarce one’s are nowhere to be found.

You bet! I keep seeing the same old tinnies on the dealer's sites, with the exception of a very few new ones added now and then. You would think the prices would be going down a bit on the ones we've seen for month after month.

      tinnies

      Guys,
It seems that the dealers prices for tinnies may remain high, the fact of the matter is, they haven`t sold. If you look on E-stand, tinnies are selling, for mostly $30-$40 less then what they really should be selling for. Lets face it, the tinnie market is in the dumpster, with the exception of the all elusive RARE find, which still commands big bucks!!

I haven't noticed common ones bringing in big bucks.
In fact, some like Seafharts, WHW & Mai Day, you can hardly give away, and they are usually thrown in as a sweetener as part of a package deal.

As always, you can't guage true market conditions with against dealers.
I think some of them at least are looking to reel in TR noobs, who basically want anything with a Swastika on it.
They look for the lowest priced item, which just happens to be that cool looking $40 tinnie [which most collectors would not give $5 for].

I wish someone would give me a Seefahrt made by Fechler. It would complete my set. No, really, this is one I would pay premium for, common or otherwise.

          Regards,
          Robert

If some Seafahrt makers are scarce ,,, I suppose that would make them uncommon, and hence more desirable, fetching a higher price than average [which I would peg at $10-$20 - Dealer, $25 to $75].

Never thought to look at makers marks on these, I'll keep that in mind, as they seem to come and go quite often.
I figured, you seen 1 Seafart, you've seen them all !

On various sites I frequent looking for the Fechler Seefahrt I could put together perhaps half of a whole set. Most are easy to find, even with different pin fastener styles. It's the uncommon makers that makes the Seefahrt a real challenge. You know, it's about the 'hunt'.

There is a great demand for the right WHW tinnies...the market happens to be in Europe. There are some GSS tinnies and Tag der Wehrmacht tinnies that sell for hundreds of dollars.

The WHW tinnies that some try selling on the WAF are common...they can be had for a Euro or less all across Europe. I guarantee if someone posted decent WHW pieces on the E-Satnd they would sell...and fast mind you.

Yes, I know the right tinnie will sell.
It was alleged that "common tinnies bring big bucks" ,,, And I haven't seen that, from my perspective.
I guess that depends on how "common" & "big bucks" are defined, which of course can vary considerably from person to person.

That Ferd Wagner Seefahrt tinnie for $89.00 is ridiculous. I wonder what it was before the reduction?!

                        Concerning this blackforest guy.

One can only assume that actual sales aren't his 1st priority.
