    Political leaders uniform

I hope this is the correct forum for the political leaders uniform group I recently purchased. I do believe the collar tabs have been resewn to the uniform. What is your opinion of it?

          Hi Arbietdienst,
to my eyes it look as the armband is sewn with the same thread, so all insignia could have been added jus MHO.

Very Nice! This is a seldom seen cut of tunic with lower angled slash and flap pockets as oposed to the exterior patch pockets- it was authorized for wear as office dress or walking out dress.

            Cheers,

            Arran.

Todd, the bad placement of the collar tabs (especially the one on the right) leads me to the same conclusion that you have reached. They are uneven and badly placed.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. The other items that came with the tunic were a very nice set of bloused trousers, shirt and tie. Thanks again!

                  Hello Todd:

I am still pretty new to this forum but I have studied the Third Reich for a while, I have a particular interest in the political aspects of Germany at that time period. I don't have many books on uniforms so I can't comment on the uniform it self but I would agree that the Collar insignia were probally sewn on sometime post war, it certianly dosn't meet the standards set by the party, for placement and ware of insignia "They were pretty strict on that stuff". I would also question the armband, I own several differnt documentaries with period film footage some in color, along with a hand full of books showing party members sporting armbands. The only problem I see with the armband is that it dosn't have a narrow gold border around the leaf border. Most pics both on and off film of this particular rank armband sport the missing gold border, but other than that it looks good. Now I have not studied armbands in depth, but it just dosn't look right to me.
                  Just my thoughts.

                  Hope that helps.

I don't like the looks of that armband. It does not compare well with others I have seen.

The red base material looks like felt. The gold leaves are not uniform in color and have too much yellow. The white trim looks very poorly sewn.

Do you think it would be best to remove the insignia and leave the tunic stripped of insignia (especially if the armband is bad ) or leave it the way it is?

                        Hi Todd:

I am still a "New Born" when it comes to collecting, so I'll leave the question about the placement of the collar insignia up to more knowledgeable minds. I would say though that if your in to collecting political items "like I am thinking of getting into." then try and lay your hands on as many books and videos with pics and footage related to the NSDAP and her many orgs.. 95% of the time you will be able to pick up a lot of knowledge, on the way things looked, and how they were susposed to look under the NSDAP's standards. This regime was "anal" when it come to regulations and orders on every aspect of German life and especially their own political orgs.

                        Hope that helps:
