SS Tinnie, Repro or Not ???

Guys,
Got this tinnie as a repro ( which I thought also) but a buddy ( and long time collector) thinks its real and possibly a badge and not your standard tinnie. Opinions would be greatly appreciated

If you look close, at the bottom of the pin attachment plate some of the lettering has been ground or worn off but the Mfg. name is still visible

As you know, i've collected and handled many SS tinnies so my educated opinion is that it's a reproduction done by casting.

My opinion.

I have come across one of these only once before, 4-5 years ago, and thought it to be a cast copy. However, it sold in an auction for maybe 100€, about two times the minimum bid, if I remember correctly. So there must have been at least 2 collectors liking it ...

The maker on the pin assembly is Josef Mayr, Linz (Austria). This is a maker of tinnies. The company had the RZM designation M9/249.

However, it seems odd that an Austrian firm would be producing a tinnie for an 1933 SS event in Fuerth. Austria only became part of the Reich in 1938.

The one above with the ground off Linz etc has probably been removed because of that inconsistancy.
