        Thanks Gents,
I did notice the pin plate was way off the center and attached rather shoddy. Are you sure it's a fantasy pin though? In the book German Insignia of World War II, edited by Chris Bishop and Adam Warner, page 115 has a similar designed pin except it has America's Old Glory instead of the Union Jack.Other than that,it is basically the same badge. The same page has another pin (same size) but with crossed flags of Nazi Germany and the Union Jack.On the top of the pin is a black bear (presumably representing Berlin?) and on the bottom, a lion with a crown on its head.
Bishop and Warner state that," Before the war, there were numerous Anglo-German and German-American voluntary organizations and members wore lapel badges like these".
I believe they existed but I don't know if this one is a fake.
From what you Fellas are saying,I'm thinking it's a fake.

They did exist but only from the 1970s. Invented by fakers

There is also questionable German spelling of Britisch(e)

There may be other views on this

            Thanks Nick,
It's true reference books have been wrong before . If they were made only after the 70's then I trust that there are no period photos of these things. The photo I have in German Insignia Of World War II is a modern photo for the book .
I would however be very interested if someone did believe they did exist in the Thirties (as the book insists)and state their case.If someone may have some examples of German-Anglo,German-American friendship pins.I find the prospect very interesting.
Or am I searching for the Orange haired ,flat nosed Yeti of the Yukon on this one?

              Hi Dan

Here is a discussion I have just found, it appears there are differing views on this badge

It is interesting however that there was quite alot of friendly activity between the two nations prior to the outbreak of the war. Particularly when Hitler Youth visted groups of Baden Powells boy Scouts throughout the country in 1937 . I have a copy of a photo of the 2 groups sitting beneath Tamworth castle in Staffordshire. (incidentally my hometown)The visits were reciprocated. I`m sure some sort of freindship badge must exist for these events. Whether they were similar to the one on this thread though, I have no idea.

Thanks Nick for the interesting thread.Yes I have to say that if the Anglo-German pin did exist in the Thirties, this particular one was not among them. The most glaring evidence I read was the oval pinplate with clipped ends, an instant diagnosis of fake pin. Then came the spelling error that our German members were very quick to point out.
I'm starting to think that this was a fantasy badge.I couldn't see the Third Reich making a pin with a spelling error. If there are any other thoughts, I'm interested but I'm going to vote--- fantasy.
                  Thanks Nick,I'm convinced
