Tinnies, Underappreciated Little Pieces of History

Folks,
I just recentley picked up this tinnie, and I started to think about the current market for tinnies, and how they`re probably at the lowest selling point I`ve ever seen them get to. But then, I started to go beyond that. As I read the small piece of paper that came with this tinnie, I started to think, you know, some of these pieces are a very significant piece of history. So I started to go through some of the tinnies I had, and was amazed at how much history is behind some of these little pieces of metal. I`d love to see other tinnies, with the stories behind them. So lets see, and hear, about those little bits of history

I agree, one of the aspects I like about tinnies is that they are often date and location specific (marking an actual event at a particular location).

Tinnies are actually one of the interesting things to collect that most of them can be attributed to an event, a date or some activity. Sadly they are perceived to be of a lower value with some rare exceptions.

To ask further, how does one really differentiate between a badge and a tinnie? There are hollow-backed badges and conversely solid backed tinnies.

Tinnies is what I started with and will always have a special place in my collection. Under appreciated? Not in my book. I can buy Iron Crosses all day long. But Tinnies are very special, unique, different material, and are just beautiful. One can never have enough Tinnies. Just my opinion. JME

i agree totally. tinnies can be very well made and there are 1000's of varients out there. i mainly concentrate on shb ones. i attach a pic of a few inc a nice paper one
