mint golden party badge from FUESS, GPB

    Hi,

I have this really nice badge in my collection, never concerned about its originality.

After reading this excellent referenz page:
    LINK

I would like to please the experts to take a look on it.

The thing what confuses me is the different font of the letters between mine and the ones on the referenz page. Maybe different because of the late (high) number?

I'm sorry to say this is almost universally accepted as an "Austrian fake" Fuess.

      Three things identify these fakes:

      1. uniform letters on the front (originals have uneven thicknesses)
      2. a tall "C" in "Munchen" on the pinplate (originals are rounder)
      3. repeating numbers on the back (lazy fakers use lots of 3s, 6s and 9s)

I would sadly have to say it is not good.

I awaited this meaning. It was, what I saw on the reference web site

        Thanks

There are more than a few of these fake badges lurking in many collections I fear.

            For sure they are!

It looks very good in hand, from very good quality. I have lot of experiance in badges, had never a doubt of its originality

I agree they are very well made. But like said, not original and called "the Austrian fake" Albeit more then one major dealer sold them still as the genuine stuff the last couple of years

If you had an original in your hand you had seen the diferences. Austrian fakes, specially when you are watching and touching them directly, canĀ“t fool to you, starting by the numbering 6, 3 and 9 are repeated allways. Fire gilding, centred maker mark, lettering, smaller size of the central enameled piece and even the weight are quite different from an original Fuess, in my opinion

Austrian fakes are being offered as genuine still today by else reputable dealers. I know of an example for 895 GBP.

Many of these reputable dealers think that these badges are real but should do their homework before listing them for sale. It would keep more of these badges from going into otherwise nice collections.

                      Hello there,

Not original. The red enamel should appear as (...) and not (---)

That's only one of many things wrong with the badge pictured.
