This is supposed to be the Honour pin for the SS Fördernde Mitglieder. These were the supporting/sponsoring members of the SS. The organization was formed in 1926 by people who wished to join the SS but were found unsuitable for active membership because of ill health etc.

However, This badge is unfortuneately fake the give away clue apart from the poor workmanship is that the back is marked RZM M 1/133. SS supporters pins were never marked with the RZM code!

I've attatched a pic of a genuine stickpin version.

      cheers
      Don

        Thanks Don,
I can see now, quite a marked difference in the quality.

Sorry, didn't have time last night.

This one was withdrawn & reissued, so the original number was milled off & a new one engraved.

            Cheers
            Don

Thereference I have says that this pin was only produced in a stick pin form before 1933 and probably less than 10,000 produced. That is a rare stick pin. NICE

I would expect an original to sell for somewhere in the region of $450.

                    As to references:

One People, One Reich. Enameled Organizational badges of Germany 1918 - 1945. JR Cone. Pages 20,21,93,94,95 & 96

A Collectors Guide to the RZM Marks of the NSDAP. Stephan Lautens. Pages 52 & 58.

Plus the collective knowledge several very knowledgeable Gentlemen. I don't know a single experienced SS collector who would go anyhere near an SS pin (including the membership pins) with an RZM mark.

                    Cheers
                    Don

Weitze should know better than that - he's usually pretty good. I suppose everyone has one that slips through, but Don is absolutely right - SS enamel pins were never RZM'ed.

Does Lautens offer any explanation for the no-RZM policy on pins? It just seems strange, given the purpose of the RZM, that most SS items would be tagged/marked but pins would be exempt. Might it be that this particular pin wasn't considered a "true" SS item in the sense that it went to supporters rather than members? Given by the SS but not worn by the SS, and hence not in need of regulation?
