      pin

I`m not sure, but it looks like the continent of Africa? Maybe some sort of colonial pin?

I will give the German text:

"Drei Dinge werden nicht eher erkannt, als zu gewisser Zeit: Three things will not be recognized rather than a certain time arrives:

ein Held im Krieg, - a hero at war

ein weiser Mann im Zorn, - a wise man in his/a rage

ein Freund in der Not - a friend in trouble

        (Goethe)

Zur Erinnerung an Deinen Freund Alfred Hartmann - Remember your fried Alfred H.

Im Ostermond des Jahres 1930 - in the Easter moon 1930

Can't find this particular pin but it could be forerunner of the RKB - Reichskolonialbund - since many Germans wanted the return of the former overseas German colonies. Or at least right wing parties convinced Germans they wanted them back.

Actually, I just found something similar in Heering-Huesken 1997 edition pg. 149 - Deutsche Kolonialjugend 9237a + b - shows Africa with the former colonies highlighted

here is a website that shows pictures of them - just scroll down a little

                Hi Curt,

thanks for the link. Just looked through the various photos there and cannot find this particular one being shown but there are certainly some that look similar. Cheers, Torsten.

I think I found the badge while looking for something else through the Heering Huesken Catalogue. Could it be the membership badge for the BDK = Bund Deutscher Kolonialfreunde (HH4701a)? Cheers, Torsten.

I have old German wartime calendars here from the WW2 era, & in some of them, "Ostermond" is the month of April.
