HJ Ski Fuhrer Badge opinions

Just been offered this badge, sorry in advance for picture quality but had to use my phone, This badge does seem absolutely genuine a realy well made quality badge its made by wittman munchen. How much is this badge worth?
The seller has no price but is open to offers. Thanks in advance for any advice given.

I have not got the book, but glad I aint bought it, love to see the real thing as this one was a really nice badge even if fake.

Agreed, can spot this one easily, even with those photos.

Your badge is a definite fake, evidence,- it is right there in color in Reddick Militaria's catalog, item 0107-198-073. Reddick's badge is all "chromy-looking." The dead give-away should have been those American double pin catches.

The dealer will probablyl want about a £1000 plus for it, I didnt like the womans broach type pins on the back, unlike any other German badge I have seen.

I hate to tell you Jenko, but I'm going to anyway,,, you are wrong in your assumption about the double set of "women's broach pins" on the back,,- be it known that the originals HAVE THAT double set of pins on the back !!! It's just that when compared to an original, they don't look as gimpy, skimpy or cheezy as the Reddick fake you pictured, AND as I said before, the real ones don't have those American catches with the little round thingies that turn & lock . You are correct about the pin set up tho, it is seldom seen.

In reality, the quality isn't good at all, it's lousy, & would only appeal to some inexperienced 15 year old kid. The fake has a phony brite chrome appearance. On the originals, the reverse of the edelweiss/HJ emblem/skis center pc. is not flat , it's a stamped-out pc that has a mirror-image of the front. If you're going to be fooling around with German medals/badges, you better go out & spend some $$ on a couple of good reference books for at least some basic rudimentary information. Who makes this fake & where ? Hey IT IS NOT A FANTASY ITEM ! It was awarded during the 3d Reich period! An original is pictured, front & back, in Angolia's Vol.2 "For Führer & Fatherland". The text says that the specific criteria for award is not yet known but it is probable that some sort of rigid alpine skier test was taken to earn it, institution 1933 or early 1934.

I had the priveledge of owning an original. I sold it to Jeff Hammond and it now resides in a nice collection in Europe. I bought it from Keith Hagen at Hagens Coins and Collectibles in Vista California around 1986. He bought it from a walk in.

After looking at website you mentioned above, I think its time I invested in some good reference books would appreciate any recomendations.
