    Cheers, Ade.
I've heard that these were given to "special guests" ie Gau Leiters. Some were hallmarked & some seem to be silver plated (perhaps for different levels of dignitary?) but I'm not totally sure. In Robin Lumsden's book "Medals & Decorations of Hitler's Germany" Page 14 has a pic of Wilhelm Kleinmann wearing what looks to be a silver version of this badge.

There is also a gold version of this badge in exhistance which I have photos of that was supposed to have been presented to Hitler. However, there is no proof of the originality of this piece that I'm aware of.

    Cheers
    Don

        silver

Very nice silver example. These are very very hard to find, and are sometimes made of actual silver and marked thus.
Interestingly, if you see the recently rediscovered Leni Riefenstahl film "Sieg des Glaubens", which was her documentary of the 1933 Nürnberg party rally, you can see someone (I don't recall who) pinning a badge to AH's tunic--I assumed it was a party day tinnie, but of course, you can't see enough detail to see what exactly it was.

                  Don,
Is this badge still in existence? In the hands of his family (or distant relatives?)
                  I wonder..........

There was an engraved gold one being offered by sale by a big dealer a while ago that was said to be it. However, there was no proof of such & there were doubts, as the hallmark was a US mark. Although the reason suggested for this was that it could have been assayed post war & so marked. Who knows...... Mind you, it did look nice even if it was a fake

                    Cheers

                          Mike,

I assume you're saying this is a bronze badge with what looks like gold plating? What does the front look like? Is there any signs of the gold there or is it worn off?

                          Cheers

                            front pic

                            here is a frontal pic.....
i can not see any signs of gold on the front...at least not like the brilliant gold on the reverse of the pin....it is a solid brass piece with nice green tarnish near the hinge
the gold on the pin is definately very gold

The pin is not a standard factory issue pin, these were only issued with spring pins. All the other types of pins found on these are alterations or repairs, usually by the individual, sometimes by someone more skilled, perhaps a jeweller or metalshop worker.

Mike, have you looked under magnification in the recesses on the front? Are there any signs of gold here?

I strongly suspect that this was a gilded or gold washed pin from another gold award that was re fitted to this piece, but an in hand inspection would be the only way to tell for sure.

There is no evidence that I have seen yet of any gold plated or gold washed '33 badges. Only the possibility of a solid gold one. There are however known solid silver versions & silver plated ones.

                                Cheers
