      Prices

Plain silly, in a recession normal people are excluded, no doubt it will be bought. My opinion is this will soon be a hobby out of the reach of most of us.Helmut is a very helpful and I have found a nice guy but seeing that tonight for me I want out of this.I own a personalised SS Wiking/TK
      grouping EK1 etc....what should I ask for it $10k ???

I agree with you.The price on these items just keeps going up and up. Its Ok if you have owned one for some years, but breaking in to this part of the market is beyond most peoples reach.

It is similar with British items. I also collect to Tunnellers of the Royal Engineers in WW1. DCMs I bought 10- 15 years ago for £250 are just going through the roof at the moment. I don`t know where its going to end. Probably, as you say, people walking away from the hobby.

Considering what both 1st and 2nd pattern Blood Orders have been selling for, I don't think it's "silly" or out of line at all. Matter of fact the prices on and demand for quality militaria continue to climb, especially with attributed and named pieces. There are people ready, willing and able to pay these prices, and things are selling. Just a week or two ago a Heimwehr-Danzig cuff title sold at auction ( Thies) for something like $15,000+ US!

It's a buyers market right now and many - myself included - are making out very well and picking up some great pieces. If these prices are being realized now amidst this "recession" imagine what the same items will be selling for in a few years when the economy bounces back and more people start having disposable income to play with again.

If it was the "complete" grouping and you had his Soldbuch and Erkennungsmarke then I'd say you'd have a rather good chance at getting about half that, maybe even more if you had the right buyer. But without the Soldbuch and Erkennungsmarke, well......

It will be interesting to see if the BO on Helmut's site sells at that price. When you consider more often than not, none can be found for sale on the internet or at shows, it might be more a seller's market when it comes to fairly rare pieces like the type 1 BO.

              Festina lente!

May I ask how much is being asked for it? Cheers, Torsten.

Not for something like this. Look at RK's compared to BO, RKs have been crazy prices for some time and are not something that carries as much history as a Blood Order does.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Blood Order and Coburg badge are still greatly undervalued and have a lot more to go before they reach prices that would be regarded as overpriced.

The medal is no longer on Helmuts site so I am presuming its sold.
Anyone have pics saved they could post up here for prosperity ?

Kyle they are not making these anymore and with only 1500 1st patterns ever made I think they must be gathering pace once again.
