i know we discussed this pin in the past and opinion was divided as to if it was a post war fake or not...look what i found..... a picture of it in use!!

Isn't it interesting that for years no one knew for sure what this badge was for or if it was indeed authentic atleast the ones I talked to at different shows how here we have two sources showing it in period ware.

Excuse my ignorance but what does the pin symbolize? How were they "helpers"? Like flight attendents? Something technical? Neat looking badge.

Jason, The Luftwaffenhelferinnen served in the same way our Wacs did during the war they were available as clerks, telephone, teletype, radio operators and intelligence service assistants. As the war progressed they were also trained in air-raid protection which included searchlight crews and flak-crew assistants. I believe this badge was for the Flugmeldedienst who's responsibility was the physical observation of the sky, identification and direction of aircraft though the use of searchlights, binoculars, hearing apparatus and radar.

Looks like it might be that scarce Odeon red label release of Please Please Me by the Beatles.
