          Nice original. IMO not all party pins were silvered. If so why are some examples very good worn and still have bright 'silver' colours? I think many of them actually received a nickle finish.

            so Theo its safe to say that my example pictured never had a silver finnish and is in its almost original state ?

              hard to say because of the light on the picture.

              Considering colours in general:

              Yellowish = Brass base metall
              Reddisch-brown = Tombak base metall
              Black and dark = patinated silvering
              glossy grey = nickle finish ?
              glossy grey = still protected original silver finish?
              Coarsy and dull grey = zinc base metall
              Rainbow colour shades = probably from a bit too much heat when soldering?
