    Gau Munich - opinions please

I got this Gau Munich badge and I am curious about the bare aluminium area.

What are you thinking about the badge? Ever seen this before?

It seems like this badge is manufactured by a mixture of aluminium and copper.

    Please feel free to comment.

    Kind regards,

    Stefan

I think your badge is good but in rough shape. It just looks like the finish is coming off in certain areas.

It's made from Cupal, which is aluminum sandwiched between two sheets of copper (I think). I don't think the finish is coming off so much as there is some corrosion on the back and spot on the front.

ETN, I think you are right. I have taken a close up picture of the little oxidated (aluminium) area.

          Have a look.

So copper was more precious than aluminum ?

I have seen original badges that are silver in color so this makes sense.

Not a question of value of the metal, which is marginal. It's just a manufacturing technique, sometimes used for durability or crispness of the stamping.
