Ski Pin 1938

Hi Guys,
Here is a ski pin that was nailed to board i picked up from a vets son.
Looks like he broke the pin off and tried to glue it, that did not work, so it got nailed
Up top it reads:
intern feldgerg
ski - wettkampfe
1938
And the maker is: Carl Poellath

Before.........and......

After.......
I did some damage taking out the nail, but the hole is already there
Was this worth something at one time, before it got nailed?
