Can anyone make out what is written on the attachment plate?
          Agree with originality, just curious.

It's a genuine NSDAP membership pin, probably from the late 1920s or very early 1930s. I like the slightly non-standard early party pins - they have lots of character.

The pin plate says "GESETZLICH GESCHUTZ" or "Legally Protected", showing the design was the registered trademark of the NSDAP and protected from unauthorized use, and in this case, was being manufactured under license.
