Ernst Rohm 1934 SA Brigade 77 Tinnie Help Please

    Guys,
Considering the date of this tinnie, May 13 1934, less then 2 months before the Night of the Long Knives, would this tinnie be considered rare and what possible current value might this hold. I know what Tieste`s book has it at, but in todays market, his book values hold little water. Thanks for any help.

PS, Sorry I can`t post a pic of it as my camera is not working properly, so if anyone has one, please feel free to do so. Thanks

Hi Chris - if it's the one I think it is, I don't have it. Is it square with a swastika lying flat and the SA symbol in the middle? Also, should say SA Brigade 77 Besichtig. d. Stabschef Roehm 13 Mai 1934 (visit by Roehm). If that is the one then it is Tieste 34-02 in the newest edition and is listed with a value of 30 Euros. As with many SA, HJ, NSFK tinnies that price could go higher.

      tinnie

Holger, That is the right tinnie. I`m just wondering, because of the length that Hitler went to have Rohms name vanquished from almost all official TR items, ie Rohm daggers, that this tinnie might be rarer than most.

Hi Chris - well there it is posted by Slim. There are any number of tinnies in Tieste that you can't get for the price quoted but it is, after all, just a reference. As far as whether it's worth more because of the Roehm connection - I'm sure that has something to do with it. On the other hand it was created for a single occasion whereas books, postcards etc. would be for sale/disribution for a longer period of time and as such had to be "edited" to remove references to Roehm. Kind of hard to go door to door demanding the tinnie back - unless some of the 77th Brigade members voluntarily coughed them up.

OK, now for the big question. If, and I`m just saying if, I decided to part with this tinnie, what price would be a good selling, or trading value. I have an idea, but I`d really like to see what my fellow tinnie collectors come up with. Thanks for all opinions

Hello Chris, I have posted my example of the SA Badge below.
Regarding value.................adding another Zero to Reinhards valuation of 30 Euro would be nearer the mark
                Regards Martin

I think the value might be closer to about 50 Euros as this is what I paid recently from a major dealer. 300 is definitely way too high.

                    tinnie

I thank all for their comments on this tinnie. I would think that this would be on the higher end of the value scale giving to the pending demise of the head of the SA and a leading figure of the Nazi Party. Were there any other tinnies that mention Rohm, and for that matter, any that mention Hess?

Nice tinnie no doubt, but i am with Richard on value around the £45 mark
if i saw this at a fair. Martin must have had a rush of blood with his price
would be interested in what Chris thinks it is worth.

                        tinnie

                        mametz,
As far as what I might think its worth, well, I`m in that crowd that says whatever you can get for it, thats what its worth, however, this is why I wanted to get varied opinions from my fellow collectors. Now, as far as what I think the value might be, or at least what I`d consider a fair sale/trade value, I would think $100-$125, maybe more to a SA collector, or even to someone who wants to display it with their Rohm Dagger

if selling my minty example i would ask 200$ trade value as there are about 26 sa tinnies i need and they never come up for sale so a trade is best with another sa tinnie collector

Hello Guys and Girls, my comments were slightly on the sarcastic side with reference to the price guide figure of 30 euros. However £45 is way off the mark and that particualr Tinnie is worth far more than that even in the novice collecting World. But what would I know...........they only let me out an hour at a time.............................................
