Rare WW1 Hat Badge Help Please

    Guys,
I posted this in the Imperial forum, but hope maybe someone has seen this before. I did some brief research on this and found out it could be a very rare WW1 cap badge. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
    PS,
Sorry for the bad pics. The piece looks much better in hand. The front is more silver in color as the back is more copper color

I have seen similar badges - commemorating various WW1 battles and regiments, and presumably worn by WW1 veterans. I picked up about 50 of these once and they brought a fair amount for "tinnies" but beyond that, I really don't know much.

The 1914-1916 ww1 badge is commemorating the Austrian Josef Ferdinand Alpenkorps unit I.R. 59
In the there is also named the unit the nickname "die roten Rainer" (from Erzherzog Rainer)

Allow me to add that the fortress on the badge is the Festung Hohensalzburg at Salzburg in Austria:

The fortress is also the site of the Rainer-Museum commemorating the Regiment. Well worth a visit, by the way.
