Someone should write a book listing the fakes and possible fake tinnie & badges. Its getting to the point where there are so many absolute fakes and possible fakes that its hard to keep track of them all. Maybe the experts at large could congregate to write one. The general collecting public could contribute ideas and opinions and the final word could be based on all factors involved? Any thoughts on this?

That would be a great idea; a pinned fake tinnie and badge thread. No discussions in it, just a summon of known fakes! +1
Regarding Chris Lee's question: I think a book is a impossible task. There are sooooo many different fakes and the moment the book is in print it's already outdated
I think the trick is to focus on the in depth reference books and stay with those text book examples. The trend is that there are complete books of hundreds of pages written on one badge! So study originals not fakes!

Yeah I definitely agree with dmv, making a complete, unabridged book about fake badges and tinnies couldn't ever be done. It's just too broad a subject. And as dmv said, the second it's published it's already outdated.
I do agree with tony and dmv, I think that's a great idea, a pinned fake tinnie/badge thread.

to be quite honest, I would not want to see a book published on it ... it would give the fakers a field day figuring out where they went wrong and produce a better generation fakes for the future .... of course, they can already do this now by searching for good threads in the various forums out there, but why make their job any easier??? Cheers, Torsten.
