Sorry it just doesn't look right to me. The over all quality just isn't what I would expect to find in a prewar example of this type of badge. The lettering is sloppy and it should have an issue number on the reverse. That's my opinion anyway.

I have to agree with James, unfortunately, the badge does not look "right". Details lack definition, the overall look is flat and the inscription on the back is sloppy with some letters barely there.

Dan, I know the example IM posting is a bronze grade and a different maker then yours but this is the type of surface finish and letter difinition you should be looking for in these badges. Again this is my opinion.

definitly more details on yours than mine.
check this closeup, Pforzheim almost looks like Pforzhem.
Also no "number". Sworddetails is much less good on mine.
Ofcourse this could be a grouddug, but the details on the text should be better, i believe.

Dan, Yes they sure did jam the I and M tight together on yours. If this was ground dug the silver plating would be all but gone or at least show some major signs of oxidation while yours is almost minty in appearance. Is it as rough to the touch as it appears to be in the picture?

the surface is a little bit corroded and a little rough, not much but easy to feel when touching.

The word Pforzheim is most def spelled without the I on my badge. As you see the printing is a little offcentre, so the thing that looks like a I is probably a part of the last letter, M.

I am afraid to say I don't like it either for all of the above reasons. I just picked up my one to compare and there is too much in difference in general quality and the lack of detail. How did you come by it?

came in a grouping, said to have belonged to one man.

Included a fake Souval IAB, to be seen in the other forum section.

Silver+Black wounded and ostmedal, these were real.

Complete lot did cost med 150 e. Nice price if all real, now I'm loosing money.
