The top part of the badge is a quote by Hitler, hence his name below the quote. This looks to be a membership badge, judging by the use of a number on the reverse, for an organization of military volunteers. Interesting badge.

When a monument for the members of the "Freiwillige oberösterreichische Schützen" (a unit of very young and also very old Austrian volunteers of an Upper Austrian regiment of WW1 fighting on the Italian front) was inaugurated in LINZ / Upper Austria (after occupation in 1938), this badge was given to the participants. It's for sure an original.

              Kind regards,

              Peter

After doing some brief research, I`ve learned that Hitler lived in the Linz area from 1898-1907, and until his death, considered Linz his hometown. Even more interesting is the fact that Adolf Eichmann also lived in Linz, and his father fought for Austria during WW1. There were 1700 old men and boys from Linz, who volunteered to fight the Italians during WW1. Could Adolf Eichmanns father have been one of these men? Interesting!!!

Thanks to Peter for some addional info on this badge. It seems there were less than 1000 made. Might anyone wager a guess as to the value of this piece?
