I'm not so sure I'd be so quick to dismiss this. It looks like it could be a legit emblem (albeit maybe a postwar vet's one). The "thing" in the background is almost certainly a shattered umbrella (associated with Neville Chamberlain specifically and the British in general) and a recurrent theme in Luftwaffe squadron emblems (e.g. 3/JG 52, 5.II (S)/LG 2, I./KG 30, etc.)

I agree with VerKuilen--it looks like a duck with a cigar (Churchill) in raingear getting the **** kicked out of him. It could well be a privately made squadron insignia--I've never seen one like it.
                I think it's pretty neat!

no way, no post war unit would have this thing repersent them. maybe USA nose art or something but sure not because of the unbrella. greg

Well for one thing the umbrella on the pin in question isn't broken like in the 3/JG52 emblem just tucked under the ducks wing. I don't know what the other unit emblems that VerKuilen listed look like but here's the 3/JG52 with a shattered umbrella.

Oh but I had all the faith in the world that someone on this forum would if given enough time would come up with evidence "yea" or "nay" on this question.
Yes Greg we do learn here.

                            Excellent research !

As I read through the thread, I'd had to agreed with VerKuilen not to dismiss items like this so easily - and 'lo and behold; the Man hit it on "the nose" (pun intended) ! Thanks VerKuilen - excellent response to an "Enquiring Mind" !

                            Best regards-

                              Insignia

I've seen various enameled and metal squadron insignia in different styles -- I believe they may have been worn on the cap or lapel. They're great--I'd love to find some for sale, but they're not easy to find.
I'd also like to know how the Luftwaffe managed to train lions to fly planes!
