Is anyone able to give me an email address for Mr Cone?

I can understand if you are reluctant to place it here, so here is my email if prefered.

I don't believe Jon R. Cone has an email address. We were in constant contact back in 1984 & 1985. He was photographing all my rare & unusual enameled badges, & was working on Volume 2 of his book. After his divorce around 1986, & after selling his collection, he sorta just dropped out of sight.

          Hello all,
Regarding Cone, was there ever a second volume printed by Cone of his (her)book? I had always just naturally assumed Cone was a man but in one of the forums the author was referred to as "she". Strange, in any case very informative book the author wrote whether a man or a woman.

Well, I assume he was definitely a man when he wrote the book as the is a dedication in the front to his wife & children....... But perhaps that was a bluff as it may have been felt that a woman may not have been taken seriously writing a book on this subject.

Was the original publication colour? My copy is more like a black & white photocopy

            Bob,

Do you know much about DRK enamels? If so, I'd appreciate a chat off line

            Cheers

My copy is also a poor quality one, like a photocopy, with a red card cover and a "comb-binding". If this is a copy I would love to get the original.

                Cone book

That was the standard edition--if I recall correctly, it came with the comb binding but there was also a hardbound edition available.

Mine actually is a photocopy somebody gave me so I don't even think I saw the dedication. In any case excellent reference book in my opinion.

Erich is correct: the original was red w/the comb binding. Blue covered copies are sold by Lowell Jackson, but a lot of the info (pages) in the front have been left out. A Volume 2 was never printed. I never figured he was a woman, he mentions about troubles with his wife in the later letters (unless he was a woman married to a woman??!!) But I don't think so. In June 1984 he was in Army OCS at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in Indiana, then in August '84 a 2dLt. at Denver, Colorado, & in November 1985 a 1stLt., & at this time mentioning about having to liquidate 99% of his collection to pay for bills accurred in the divorce that he was in the middle of, & that he would get out of German collecting altogether & move on to other interests. I still have his old List from when he sold out.

                      Bob,
This Lowell Jackson you speak of is a dealer, correct? If so, I've bought from him numerous times maybe 15 years or so ago here in the Chicago area. He always set up using aluminum cases. I've got some reaaly nice items from him. Do you know how he can be contacted?

Yes, he's a dealer, from Cave Creek, Arizona. His website is www.pohind.com. He may be out of the books, I'm not sure.

                          Hello again all,
Question about Lowell Jackson, I myself have never done any business with Mr. Jackson but if I'm not mistaken I've read numerous items about him and his "Pieces of History" on the forums and the consensus seems to be that he sells basically junk and to avoid him. His site is interesting but what is the deal with Mr. Jackson and his "Pieces of History"? Reputable dealer or?
                          Thanks
                          Bill

Thanks for the tip on the Web site. This guy has been printing and selling unauthorized copies of my book Freikorps Insignia and I'm sure my lawyer will be interested in his extended business activities. I hope Cone's book wasn't pirated also. There's nothing like putting in years of work on something and then having somebody rip it off.

                              Bob,
Thanks for the link. This is not the Lowell Jackson I dealt with. After visiting the website I realized this.
