    help with whw tinnie

    i have tried to find reference to this item but failed.its a bit odd in that i have not seen one with the added center green bit before.any help and value appriciated

    after more searching "watermellon" came up with one of these.i take it either that is the type name of such a tinnie?? the tinnie is not in excellant order i just found it an interesting item compared to other tinnies i have come across.

      Hello Chris,
      Not sure about the watermelon reference, perhaps the stone is "watermelon rind green". Retail is 5-10, with the surface rust on this one, a couple of dollars.

          Chris, As far as I can find out there was no specific reason for the deferent colored stones used by the WHW other for eye appeal to help sell more of these items. You will find their use in several types of items sold to rase money for the winter relief org. Here's one with an amber stone.

                In German WHW is Winter-Hilfs-Werks and was from 1933-1945. In English-Winter welfare organization. Your eagle came in many different colors versions as did other WHW tinnies. Hope that helps. Mike
