    Potsdam - Abzeichen

    Hey guys

    Some years ago on a vacation in Berlin i was luckey to get my hands on this potsdam abzeichen in silver. i tryed to find some info on this abzeichen but nothing in detail so if anybody know the history to fill in my blanks plz be welcome besides the abzeichen i have a pray if anybody knows about this silver needle punched 935 also from germany, 3 reich , post war, DDR etc i really dont know but maybee you guys knows, feel free to comment

                The logo on the stickpin-type badge is for the Mitropa. (Short for Mitteleuropäische Schlaf- und Speisewagen Aktiengesellschaft.) This particular logo was designed around 1927/1928 and used (at least) until the end of the war.

                From the design of the stickpin with its silver laurel wreath and case, I suppose this was an award for long loyal service to that company.

                Founded as a a catering-service for railway dining- and sleeping cars in 1916, it was split up into the East-German Mitropa and the West-German DSG after the end of WW2 and the separation of Germany. The East-German Mitropa used a re-designed version of the logo, eliminating the stylized eagle-head design.
                After the German re-unification, the two separate companies were merged into the new Mitropa AG in 1994, which eventually became the SSP in 2006.
