    Blutorden : help needed !

    Hello,

I have an inquiry. A friend of mine has asked for my opinion about a blutorden but this is not my field and I would need knowledgeable fellow members' opinions.
Here is the description given by him :

    - it is hallmarked 4433
    - Also, it doesn't have the thin wire hanger attached.
    - The maker's name is on the outside edge of the
    medal (it's "Friedrich Orth Wien")

    - there is a 800 silver content stamp

Sorry but there is no pic available for the moment.
In my opinion, I would say that the maker mark sounds bad because Blutorden were found
    - either bearing a 990 silver content stamp with the J. Fuess caption,
    - or with only a 800 silver content stamp and without any mention of the manufacturer.
But, as I told you before, Political awards are far from being my field so I can be totally wrong.

    Who can help us ?
    Many thanks in advance
    Regards
    Denis
PS : George D, feel free to add any comments to this post if necessary.

    Blood Order

Actually, I am writing a paper on the blood order now - can we get a good picture of obverse, reverse, any dimensions and masses ?

    Best regards-

      Blutorden

      Hello Denis,
You're right--there are 2 patterns of Blood Orders--the first with serial numbers up to about 1500 are maker marked by J. Fuess with a silver content of 990, and the second type with an 800 silver mark and no makers' markings. A second type with a marking on the rim would be highly suspicious. It would be interesting if you could post a picture so that we can see what else is wrong with it.

        Hello
Thanks for your response. The only problem is that my firend cannot post any pic since he has no access to a digital camera.
I know it is always hard to give an opinion based only on words but I thank you for trying.
I will keep you informed if my friend can ahieve to take some photos.
        Regards
        Denis

Jim, as you know the Blutorden I sold to you was sold and advertised by me as a copy. I did not claim for it to be original or not and the price was the price of a good copy and nothing like the price for an original and the Blutorden that Denis described here and asked for help about was the one that I had offered...if you remember, I put out the question of whether the Orden was original or not.. as it happens, I still do not know if it was original or not... anyhow, all over now...still, I hope that you are happy with your purchase...Cheers, Torsten Belger.
