I have two Bronze SA Sports Badges. One is magnetic, the other is not.

All I can say about tall/vs short letter on REDOs is this:

When I was 17 I used to meet with a very seasoned, about 45 year old German badge collector in Mannheim, a guy who had it all. Of course I wasn´t experienced enough to tell if all his badges were original, but he gave me three of the best badges now in my collection. They were all real. This guy made a very knowledgeable impression on me and I literally sucked in his words.
He told me about the "rule" to always look for the tall letters in REDO SA sports badges. I followed this and bought my REDO pictured in this thread in the early eighties.
I also saw the short letters in Detlev´s guide and that confused me. But always remember, Detlev´s price guide is also not flawless, he also had that fake Juncker EK & spange combo in there. He would be the last to not admit his mistakes. I will look forward to check if he has the long letter REDO in the next edition of his price guide.
However, both versions could be right, but then again, I always wonder why this seasoned collector told me to look out for long letter REDOs only.
If the short lettered ones are copies, they must be around since the late seventies/early eighties at least. Probably long enough to make them original among younger collectors. It is quite easy to fake a SA sports badge.

SA sports badges are magnetic as far as I know of with the exception of the ones for the war wounded which are all zinc.

Where'd you find that please?

I'm not either! Only because you could order 500 of these for 20 pounds each. Always a dead giveaway in my book

They have 'maker marked' fakes of many types. Good for all of us to know.
